Five arrested in prakriti lamsal death case

Five people from KIIT University have been arrested following the mysterious death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal. The arrests include senior college officials.

According to the Nepali Ambassador in New Delhi, the arrested persons are Shivanand Mishra (Director General of Human Resources), Pratap Kumar Chamupati (Director of Administration), Sudhir Kumar (Hostel Director), Ramakant Nayak (Security Guard) and Jogendra Behera (Security Guard). They have been produced before the court.

Background of the event:

The body of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal, who was studying at KIC University, was found on the night of February 16. Following this incident, Although initial investigations suggested that Lamsal committed suicide, her friends say that she was being mentally and sexually tortured by her ex-boyfriend, Srivastava.

Following this incident, more than 500 Nepali students studying at the university began demonstrating, demanding justice. During this demonstration, security guards used various abusive language and even used violence against the Nepali students.The college administration, on the other hand, had evicted the Nepali students from the hostel and sent them to the Katal railway station.

MPs in the Nepal National Assembly have demanded a fair investigation into the death of Prakriti Lamsal and strict action against the culprits.
